This is a story out of California in the Sacramento Bee on the editorial page where the writer feels that domestic violence is an epidemic in California affecting children, mothers friends neighbors and loved ones inflicting trauma that lasts physically mentally and emotionally. And it occurs in the most personal of places: our homes.
You can read the story HERE..
The story goes on to say that “One out of three women in California has experienced violence at the hands of her spouse or partner. If you live in Sacramento County, the average rate is even higher – making you three times more likely to suffer from domestic abuse than women in the rest of the state, according to the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.”
The story also claims that because it is a hidden epidemic that many victims suffer in silence. It is a well-known fact that many victims do not report domestic violence to the police until after they have been assaulted 25 to 30 times. How tragic?
