These results were consistent with other national studies and underscored the seriousness of the problem. The op-ed piece noted that by undertaking such a detailed study MIT has signaled they are serious about finding solutions to the issue for their students.
The responses provided insights into sexual behavior on campus and will be used to form a policy going forward.
It suggests that after years of turning a blind eye to a widespread problem, schools are finally paying attention and taking needed action.
