Arrest In Home Invasion Robbery

A Home Burglary occurred in Jamestown, N.Y. where police arrested an Ashville, N.Y., man in connection with a home invasion armed robbery early this morning at a residence at 76 Pershing Ave.

They took several items, including a safe, clothing, cash, jewelry and coins.

Police said three men forced their way into the home, where they bound a man with duct tape and beat him.

The three assailants wore masks and were armed with a machete and a billy club, police said.

Of course it is best to prevent intruders from getting into your apartment or home. But if they do get in, we highly recommend that you hide your smaller valuables such as jewelry, cash, credit cards and even small handguns in one of our diversion safes.

This Book Safe is a good example of diversion safes. They are common everyday objects that have a hollowed out interior to hide smaller valuables. Burglars cannot look everywhere. Diversion safes hide your valuable property “in plain sight.”

Woman Assaulted And Robbed

A Greenville woman was beaten, her purse and cell phone stolen and she was left in an empty parking lot in a parking lot assault.

A woman with torn clothes, a bruised eye and deep scratches on her neck flagged down a Greenville-West Salem Township patrolman in the parking lot of a Main Street convenience store in the borough, police said.

The woman said Mathew P. Molke, 27, of Conneaut Lake and Bethann M. Staggs, 31, of Atlantic picked her up at her Greenville home. As they traveled east on Hadley Road near Sixth Avenue in Hempfield Township, Molke asked her for gas money and she gave him $4, police said.

Molke finally wrestled the purse away from her, while Staggs continued hitting her, police said. The pair then left the victim lying on the ground and took off in the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse, police said. The victim flagged down a motorist who took her to the convenience store, police said.

She was treated at a local hospital for a broken finger, a bruised shoulder and torn ligaments in her neck and back, police said.

A warrant for Molke’s arrest lists his charges as aggravated assault, robbery and theft; Staggs faces charges of simple and aggravated assault and robbery.

Parking lots are one of the most common places for an assault on women. We encourage young girls and women everywhere to carry a self-defense product with them such as a stun gun or pepper spray.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month this year focusing on sexual assault on college campuses. Sexual assault has long been an issue but now it is more visible than ever. One in five women is a survivor of rape, one in two women and one in five men have experienced some form of sexual violence during their lifetime.

Statistics have also stated that college-aged women are four times more likely than any other age group to face sexual assault.

This years goal is to get everyone involved in creating safer campuses. Preventing sexual violence on campus takes more than one department, office, club, team, administrator, professor, staff member or student. It requires all working together in big and small ways. Everyone can play a role in creating a culture of safety, equality and respect on campuses.

The best way for women to protect themselves is with a self-defense weapon.

Luggage Handler Expose Uses Hidden Cameras

This story is about airport baggage handlers who got caught red-handed, rifling through luggage by using a Hidden Camera.

What are they looking for? The valuables that you packed, that you thought would be safe, but in never before seen video obtained by CNN, undercover cameras and the police are catching the baggage handlers stealing on planes, and in supposedly secure areas of the airport.

The video even caught a security guard apparently in on them.

A CNN analysis finds over the past five years, nearly 31,000 passenger claims of items missing from luggage filed with the TSA. About 25,000 of those claims alleged valuables missing from checked bags.

Over 500 TSA officers have been fired for theft since 2002, including one who hid stolen items in this secret compartment.

The top airport for items reported missing from luggage: JFK in New York. So many insider baggage thefts were going on here, the airline el al set up its own hidden cameras and found workers rifling through luggage, stealing money out of wallets; seven baggage handlers were arrested for stealing iPhones, iPads, watches, rings, cameras.

In Los Angeles, police last year raided homes of baggage handlers. According to the airport police chief, the case led to a major reduction in missing items from luggage.

NFL Ravens Criticized For Lack Of Domestic Violence Policy

From MSN comes this story about the pro football Ravens and their lack of a Domestic Violence Policy.

The NFL didn’t really have much in place in way of a domestic violence policy before 2014. That all quickly changed in large part thanks to Ray Rice and the Baltimore Ravens.

The criticism comes from Ravens owner Steve Biscoitti who said “I think that we were pretty stupid not to recognize domestic violence as a category by itself, I’m embarrassed to say that they were lumped together. So, I’m happy that we found ourselves comfortable taking that categorically and putting it into at the top of the list as something that is just unacceptable.”

Bisciotti also said the Ravens now take into consideration off-field issues — particularly any history of domestic violence — when scouting for the draft or preparing for free agency.

Women who are in a domestic abuse situation should carry a nonlethal self-defense product with them at all times.

Guilty Plea In Nurses Assault Case

A former Rochester woman accused of Assault On 2 Nurses has pleaded guilty in the case.

The woman was charged last spring with two counts of felony fourth-degree assault of hospital emergency personnel. She entered the guilty pleas Thursday in Olmsted County District Court; sentencing has been set for May 18.

The charges stem from an incident that was reported about 1 a.m. Sept. 29, 2013, when officers were sent to Saint Mary’s Hospital.

There, two nurses told them they’d been assaulted when they attempted to administer medication to Hall, who was a patient at the hospital.

Hall began kicking and swinging her arms and legs, the complaint says, then bit one of the nurses on the shoulder and kicked the other nurse in the thigh. Two security guards were eventually needed to restrain Hall.
